Deborah Griffin BIO

Deborah Griffin was born in the small Arkansas farm community of Mulberry, where her cousin Randy was the sheriff. Vowing to live in a town with a population of more than three digits, she headed for the west coast and traded horticulture for culture in the San Francisco Bay Area (pop. over seven digits). Since she always wanted to live on an island, she settled into a Victorian flat on Alameda Island in the Bay.

Although, she’s lost most of her drawl, her southern roots require deep connection and front-porch-style conversations, so she surrounds herself with a motley assortment of forever friends, ex-husbands and lovers, and intriguing paramours in an extended family that keeps her nurtured, entertained, and guarantees a seat at several holiday tables.

Deborah is published in Skirt! Magazine, Goddess magazine, other periodicals, and the Left Coast Writers’ anthology Hot Flashes 2, Sexy Little Stories and Poems. She is currently at work on a chicklit novel, Accidental Crimes and Misadventures, a madcap romp of a roadtrip--with baggage. Contact her here.

on a more personal note...

After a bit of discussion with various artist- and writer-buddies, coworkers and strangers, I decided to play with this blog thing. At first I wondered what I might have to say that would be of interest to anyone but my nearest and dearest. But in the spirit of seeking by documenting my process, whether that be developing a project, or just thinking with words, reviewing and commenting on living, loving, aging, creating, and seeking pleasure (my word for 2009), I decided to give it a go. So here, rather than on the blog, I'll say...I have no idea WHAT I'm doing or more to the point, WHY I'm doing this.

At its inception, I see creative:generic, the blog, as an opportunity to ramble on about the challenges of living a fulfulling creative life when my interests range all over the page (journal and sketchbook). There ideas burble, art projects start and wither, and the struggle gets named, wrangled and eventually laughed over. READ the BLOG...

then, if you are really really interested...

You'll need the secret word to visit my personal page, which contains such exciting entries as: my new oh so fetching kitten who actually fetchs with alacrity, photos of studio spaces, cartoons and sketches, travel pix, the text from a personals profile, and memoir-ish meanderings, and much much more...this is not for the faint-hearted. Email me for the secret word then, LOG IN AS GUEST and Visit if you dare...

further comments...

....and I would love to hear from any and all, either in the comments section of the blog, or here, through an email.
